INNOVATIVE AND INVENTIVE

About us: Jürgen Traub and Simon Siewert

To design tools that are special, you need specialists! When their paths crossed in 2001 while working for a leading machine manufacturer, Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub agreed: when it comes to precision cutting tools, you can take no shortcuts.
More than 20 years later, as successful entrepreneurs and owners of the Trauwert GmbH in Göppingen, the innovative tools they produce are still engineered according to this philosophy.

Professional toolmaker Jürgen Traub has always had the highest standards regarding quality and expertise. His competence is based on decades of experience in roller-bearing guides for machine axes and complex, high-precision component assemblies. His attention to detail established him as an expert in precision grinding of machine bearings at the renowned machine manufacturer Jung in Göppingen, Germany.

Simon Siewert completed his training as an industrial mechanic at the Jung company. In search of new challenges, he changed jobs in 2005. During his employment for a leading global brush manufacturer, he was responsible for setting up the automatic bristle tufting machines, which he programmed and loaded. While working with these linear operating systems, he became aware of the considerable problems that were common to conventional cutting tools at the time: Since they were mounted on plain bearings, they were subject to friction, which led to rapid wear.

Simon Siewert returned to the Jung company in 2007. He and Jürgen Traub were not satisfied with the cutting tools that were available, as they were susceptible to wear and soon showed poor cutting performance that resulted in short service life. They were convinced that they could develop a new product, one that would be more durable and cut with greater precision.

In 2009, the two creative minds became entrepreneurs and founded their own company. Their ticket to success: an innovative clipper trimmer that has since become a global standard with leading brush manufacturers worldwide. At Trauwert GmbH, the former colleagues and new partners Traub and Siewert created a roller bearing guideway for their newly designed, significantly more efficient and high-precision cutting tool.

The patented roller bearing-mounted clipper trimmer was the foundation on which Trauwert GmbH was built, and remains so even today. At their facility in Göppingen, the premium-quality trimmer undergoes one final step in the production process: high-precision grinding gives the cutting tool its essential accuracy. In addition to production and sales, the company also provides maintenance services that include regrinding and retoothing clipper trimmers.

In 2018, the clipper trimmer also successfully made its mark in the wire brush manufacturing industry. It can now cut wires with a diameter of up to 0.5 millimetres - regardless of whether they are made of bronze, stainless steel, steel wire or other alloys. This is another milestone for the Trauwert company, because now almost all filaments and materials used in the brush, broom and paintbrush industry can be cut precisely and sustainably using their roller bearing-mounted clipper trimmers.

In 2019, for the first time, technical brushes were fully automatically profiled by robot technology in combination with Trauwert clipper trimmers.

Another branch of the industrial cutting sector, the textile industry, joined the now-established Göppingen company in 2020. That is when Trauwert GmbH launched their special clipper trimmers for precision cutting of hook and loop tapes in plastic or stainless steel. Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub took the next step and developed a cutting tool that can cut metal and plastic eyelets with high precision thanks to its particularly fine toothing. Trauwert GmbH also contributes to process optimisation for these complex cutting operations and, of course, also provides maintenance for the drive units as well as regrinding and retoothing of the clipper trimmers.
